ITTF President Adham Sharara Threatens To Sue Over Corruption Claims

President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), Adham Sharara, is threatening to sue Stefano Bosi over claims of corruption and the mismanagement of ITTF funds. On the long laundry list of claims sent out by Bosi, he says Sharara has been using some of the funds for his own personal gain. It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there in the table tennis industry, and this just goes to show how quickly things can escalate! Keep reading for more information and details regarding this alleged corruption case.

As some of you may already know, Adham Sharara has been the president of the ITTF for 14 years now. Originally born in Egypt, Sharara moved to Canada later in his life and eventually perused the position of president at the ITTF. Most professional table tennis players will agree that he’s been a great president who’s only made advancements and improvements to the sport. Of course, there’s still one person who would argue otherwise – Bosi.

Recently, Stefano Bosi came out to accuse Sharara of numerous acts of corruption, some of which include Canadian real estate investments, running a non-profit organization on the ITTF’s dime, and mingling personal funds with the ITTF’s funds. These are really just the complaints at the top of the list, as Bosi has several more not mentioned here.

Bosi even went so far as to contact the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to request for an investigation into President Sharara. There’s still no question yet as to whether or not this will go through, but it’s a bold request that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Perhaps this is what sparked the announcement of a potential lawsuit from Sharara.

President Sharara has responded to these allegations by stating to the press that he will sue for Bosi unless Bosi withdraws his claims of corruption. As of now, though Bosi is holding strong to his ground with the claims. Stay tuned and check back on our blog for any new updates regarding this high-profile table tennis incident.

So, what do you think about president Sharara? Personally, it’s hard to tell whether or not he is truly guilty of corruption without having a closer look. While many of the players have admired him over the years, it doesn’t necessarily mean he’s innocent. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how this whole thing plays out in the days to come.
